Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property (IP) refers to the legal rights that result from intellectual activity in the industrial, scientific, literary, and artistic fields. It encompasses a range of intangible assets that are products of the human intellect, including inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce. The primary types of intellectual property include patents, which protect inventions and processes; copyrights, which protect original works of authorship; trademarks, which protect symbols, names, and slogans used to identify goods or services; and trade secrets, which protect confidential business information. The purpose of intellectual property laws is to encourage innovation and creativity by granting creators exclusive rights to their creations for a specified period, allowing them to reap financial benefits while promoting the public disclosure of ideas and knowledge.
